There was a bomb threat at our local high school yesterday...my kids are not in the high school but at the middle and elementary school and because the close proximity to each other all of the schools were evacuated. Though it appears it was someone's idea of a sick joke and they were never in any real danger, the fear that I felt and my kids felt was very real. Some days it is very hard to watch the news and I have even gotten to the point where I can't even handle scary tv shows or movies. The images are far too real and take way too long for me to recover from. This is why most of my art tries to take people to a happier place...a place of green fields, faeries and princesses...happy cows and pigs...and peaceful and compassionate eyes. These are my happy places...inside my imagination.
As much as I would have preferred to keep my kids home from school today...home where they are happy and safe and by my side...I know that we can not live in fear. We have to try to make this world a happier and more compassionate place to live...a world we are proud to call home.

I have been working on a new series featuring some of my daughter's favorite fairytale characters. I am currently working on two characters, both still in progress, but wanted to give you a sneak peek. I am so excited about this project! I have plans to add many layers and textures to these mixed media lovelies….check back for more updates on my progress!
Oh…..and I chopped off my hair! :) It was so liberating!
