reflecting….

Controlled chaos…that feels like my life right now! I have "to do" lists for my "to do" lists and there are not enough hours in the day! As crazy as things seem and though life is flying by….I am trying to take a moment each day and reflect on just how lucky I am. My wings are finally starting to grow and I can feel amazing things coming. With Gypsies opening this past October and then the rush of the holiday season…it seems I am just now realizing how amazing things are. Working and creating in a beautiful, historical building with so many other amazing artists, who are quickly becoming part of my family, I cannot imagine living a more wonderful and artful life. Wow.

my dark hearts…

So….I have to admit...I am not a huge fan of Valentine's Day….never have been and don't suppose I ever will. I am married to the love of my life and we do little things for the kids on Vday, but it's not really a day we have ever celebrated. It just seems so over commercialized and I have never been a very big fan of hearts…at least not until I started making my own.

I have been experimenting more and more with polymer clay, instead of my usual paper clay, and I gotta say…I love it! Not having to wait so long for a piece to dry is just magical!

Hear are a few of my "dark hearts" that I created this past weekend using polymer clay, alcohol inks and copper wire. I think I may just learn to love hearts….perhaps there is hope for Valentine's Day yet!

It was a crazy, busy holiday!

Placing myself back into the retail world was crazy. As a business owner you see such a different side to things…not to mention trying to balance the business side with my artistic side. I gotta say…my mind is forever churning with ideas. Coming up with things to make as well as purchase…I am like a kid in a candy store! My only issue is not having enough hours in the day! Now that we have hit January and the retail side has slowed down a bit we are starting to churn up the artistic side of things. Over the next couple of weeks we will be adding workshops, classes and even faerie tea parties to our calendar! Such amazing energy is flowing in the Old Mill and I am just so thrilled to be a part of it.

I thought I would share with you three of the commissioned pieces I managed to squeeze in over the holidays…. three lovely and unique couples….
