Loving it....

I am so in love with mixed media...and I have experimenting with so many different things....and also getting over my fear of messing up! It has been such a wonderful adventure and I am quite certain I will never be able to go back to the very flat portraits I used to create. Every time I enter the studio now...I get a tiny thrill for the upcoming treasure hunt through all of the items I have collected over the years....that are finally getting put to use!

Here is my latest piece. I found an awesome piece of cardboard in the recycle bin one day...perfectly square and quite sturdy. This was the beginning of this illustration. From there I added card stock for the background...then put my pencil to paper and added the princess. Gave it a border using some decorative paper tape printed with script. Once that part was complete I embellished the piece with paper flowers, butterflies and bees. Afterwards I added my own flair with pen and ink...threw in a few teeny copper stars and then finished with a tiny bit of faerie dust. Here she is....
