The Copper Frog has opened!

The Copper Frog had it's grand opening this past weekend during Allentown's Harvest Festival and it was a huge success! The Copper Frog is an art gallery located in The Old Mill in Allentown, New Jersey. The Mill was forced to close down for a couple of years due to the construction of a new bridge (located right next to the Mill) and then suffered damage from the hurricane and flooding that hit our town last year. After lots of hard work from the owners of the Mill and Ericka O'Rourke (owner of The Copper Frog)....the Mill has a heartbeat once again!

I felt so honored and proud to be included in the Grand Opening event. I spent two days chatting with folks that came out for the Harvest Festival as well as the Grand Opening. I heard so many positive comments and could feel the excitement from everyone that The Mill was alive and kicking once again!

Here are a few pictures of the Gallery, including the Wall that my artwork is featured on....I get all teary every time I think about how lucky I am to be a part of this beautiful gallery!

a very BIG faerie!

SO....a friend inquired about making a faerie larger than my usual ones (which are roughly 12-15 inches tall) and I took the challenge. It took a ton a clay and some rethinking concerning wire and the overall armature but she is finally finished and photographed. She is 33 inches tall....and rather fun to sit and chat with.

I'd like to think she was once regular faerie size and decided to partake in some of her own faerie dust in oder to make herself a bit closer to human size :)

So, I have been experimenting with some new ways to make jewelry with paper clay and I came up with an idea that incorporates prints of my artwork, paper clay, acrylic texture gels, paint and glitter. I have been very pleased with the results...little pieces of wearable mixed media art that are unique and comfortable to wear. Even though they are sizeable pieces of jewelry the clay makes them very lightweight. Here are the results.....

The UK Vegan Society.....

They asked me to donate a piece for their online auction and I was thrilled to say YES! Here is what I created.....

She was created with colored pencils and acrylic on paper...then attached to a pine backing. I added a whimsical black and white stripe border and gave the piece a more three dimensional look by adding some glass bead texture gel around the edges of the illustration. I must say...i love my little piggy! :)
The piece is approx. 8.5 inches by 11 inches.

August is halfway over and fall is favorite time of year! I am having visions of cozy sweaters, jeans and my favorite boots! I have grown tired of weeding...being bitten by mosquitos....and 90+ degrees every day. Bring on the crisp autumn air, the turing of the leaves and lots of homemade soups. I am ready!

Here are a couple pics from my you all know I have been preparing art for my friend's gallery that is opening in September so my studio is overflowing with artsy goodness. I get very happy when I take in all of the creations that have come to life this summer. The first picture is of me in my  studio, my lovely husband took this shot. The second shot is my art table covered with many of the pieces I have worked on this summer.
